Description
John Saxe wrote a poem on which he described the anomalous situation of six “blind” men being taken to “see” an elephant. On of them, on seizing the tail, decided that the whole elephant was “mighty like a rope!” Another, chancing to grab the squirming trunk, was equally convinced that the entire beast was “surely like a snake.” a third, happening at his first feel to grasp a leg, was just as positive that the mighty pachyderm was :much like a tree.”
